In a robbery that took place ironically at an Insurance company premises today, thieves stole more than Rs 1 lac cash from the firm’s office at Ashwani Bazaar.

According to police, a sub-staff member of the New India Insurance Company’s Ashwani Bazaar Branch went to the office today morning at around 9.30 am where he found that two of the locks of the main gate were broken. When he reached the first floor, he discovered that there was a huge gap between the iron strings of the channel gate.

After entering the office, he was shocked to see that two of the cabinets were lying wide open and the cash box present in one of the cabinets, which contained Rs. 1,16,903 and cheques of the premium collected, amounting Rs. 61,087 was missing.

There were no CCTV cameras installed and no Security Guard was there at the premise.

Senior Divisional Manger, N.C Sindhi informed UT that they have asked the costumers for the duplicate cheques and lodged an FIR at the Dhan Mandi Police Station.

This is the third such theft in insurance company offices after the ones that happened at the Bank Tiraha, Delhigate and another at Shakti Nagar. In all the three, the strategy of the thieves was identical.
