Theft causing a consolidated damage worth lacs of rupees left the business community shell-shocked. Thieves got into three different shops located very close to Police control room at Delhi gate and stole over fifty thousand cash, destroyed four CCTV cameras, broke LCD monitor, laptop and caused damage to a lot of other articles.

This stunning incident of theft has created a feeling of insecurity among local shopkeepers of the area.

Sunderam Men’s Cloth, Gulshan Credit Cooperative Society and Sustech Mobile shop were targeted by suspected thieves who managed to get in via terrace after breaking iron grill, wall and ceiling of a shop.

Sunder Das Chandani, the shop owner said that, he arrived today at 9:30 am and found that everything in his shop was scattered. CCTV cameras and laptop was broken and Rs.50000 cash missing. Clothes worth lacs of rupees were also missing.

He later found that not only his shop, but other nearby shops of Sustech Mobile and an office of Gulshan Credit Co Society were also targeted by thieves.

Simultaneous theft in three shops in one night has left the shopkeepers of the area very upset. Shopkeepers blocked the road in protest. Paras Singhvi, President of Chamber of Commerce also came in support of the victims.

FSL team of police and deputy officers along with circle in charge of Surajpol Police Station reached the spot and started investigation.

A group of thieves is very active and are continuously targeting shops in the area as many similar incidents have been reported in past.

It is suspected that the thieves might even be using children for executing the crime as the holes made into the walls for getting in are very small.

Paras Singhvi condemned the incident and said that it is shameful to see such incident happening near the Police control room. He, along with other shop keepers, decided to keep their shops shut for 30 minutes and to block the road. They finally let go after Police assurance for urgent action for nabbing the culprits.
