More than half a dozen houses located at Hiran Magri sector 4 became victim of theft and burglary in a single night.

More than half a dozen houses located at Hiran Magri sector 4 became victim of theft and burglary in a single night.

Several amounts of cash, jewelries, clothes, household items and even petrol from vehicles were stolen by a gang of thieves. The thieves also snatched gold chain from a woman sleeping in her room.

All senior police officials rushed to the area after series of thefts came to light today morning.

As per police, the gang started at Hanuman Mandir at Sector-4 as their first target but fortunately they could not steal anything from the Mandir. Thereafter, they entered into the house of Bhawani Shankar and stole Rs.20000 cash.

They broke the iron grill and entered into the house of Harish Jain and stolen Rs.5000 and an expensive watch. Thieves then entered into the house of Vinay Bhatnagar and snatched 1 tola gold chain from his wife Gunjan’s neck. Frightened, the couple screamed for help which forced the suspects to flee away.

According to Gunjan Bhatnagar, there were around 12-15 accused and the one who entered their house was wearing short t-shirt and half pants while those who were standing outside were wearing traditional rural attire (dhoti-kurta).

Dy S.P Goverdhan Lal and SHO Narpat Singh rushed to the scene. Upon investigation it was found that, the thieves stole petrol from vehicles parked in the same area.

“Nakabandi is lodged in the area to nab the accused,” said Goverdhanlal.
