Thieves target 8 shops in One night
More than half a dozen shops located in different areas of the city were targeted by suspected thieves last night. Rs.97000 was stolen from two shops including unknown amount of cash and valuables from other stores.

Thieves broke shutters of nearly 7 shops at Sunderwas area and also committed theft in one of the shops at Maldas Street.
According to the report lodged by Harish Chawla (owner of a general store at Sunderwas), today when he reached his shop, he saw the shutter was forcefully pulled up. When he entered to check, he discovered that Rs.96000 which were kept in the cash box was stolen.
Other adjacent shops including a Salon, a utensil shop and a sweet shop etc. also reported incident of theft.
Similar incident came to light from Maldas Street, located in the old city area, where thieves broke the shutter of a readymade garment shop and stole Rs.1000.
Owner of the shop, Amit Malkani said, “It is not the first time that this has happened. Such incidents are very common in the area.”
Few days ago, another cloth shop located nearby was targeted by thieves.
Traders of Maldas Street expressed their anger over lack of security measures by city police.
