Dhanmandi Police has arrested three people including two women and a man for stealing a 1.5 tola gold chain from a fellow woman passenger travelling in a 12 seater auto rickshaw.

 

Dhanmandi Police has arrested three people including two women and a man for stealing a 1.5 tola gold chain from a fellow woman passenger travelling in a 12 seater auto rickshaw.

The arrest was possible due to the alertness of the auto driver and the victim.  As soon as the victim realized her chain missing, she shouted and the auto driver, without letting any passenger leave the auto, took it directly to the nearby police station.

According to police, victim Tina Verma resident of Kumawatpura was going towards Hathipol in a ferry auto rickshaw.

There were two female sitting next to the Tina. Before reaching Delhi Gate, one of the suspected females took out the gold chain from Tina’s neck and handed over to a man who left the auto at Delhi Gate while the two women were sitting in the rickshaw.

However, between Delhi Gate to Ashwini Bazar, Tina realized the mishap and started shouting. The rickshaw driver also started enquiring, while the two suspected woman tried to leave the rickshaw but the driver stopped them and took the auto directly to Police Station.

Later during interrogation, the male accomplice also reached the police station and confessed the crime. Police has recovered the stolen gold chain and arrested the accused who were identified as Rekha, her husband Sumit Kumar and Nitu (sister of Rekha) all belong to U.P.
