A notorious criminal and the key accused of the very famous Siraj murder case Shakil alias Mattha along with two other accused has been arrested with illegal arms by the joint team of Special Task Force and Bhopalpura police on Monday. The illicit weapons have been seized by the police whereas the search of one of the absconding accused is still on.

Shakil was arrested by the police from Keshav Nagar on Monday after his name was revealed by another accused Rafiq alias Gappa who was arrested few hours back from Bhopalpura with a country made pistol, Station House Officer of Bhopalpura police station Chandmal said.

Chandmal added that on Monday he got a tipoff that a suspect would come to his police station circle with an illegal pistol in his custody. By reacting on the information Chandmal along with the Jawans of Special Task Force raided the Bhopalpura circle and nabbed the accused with the illegal pistol.

During his interrogation Gappa revealed that Shakil alias Mattha also possesses an illegal pistol these days. He also revealed that he has brought the weapon from one Irfan of Kunjarwadi in Rs 25000. Later the team arrested accused irfan from his house and booked him under various sections of arms act. On the other side Shakil also disclosed that he had purchased the pistol from an accused Akhtar of Khanjipeer area five year back. All the weapons were seized and the search of the accused Akhtar is on.

Shakil alias Mattha of Kaharwadi is a notorious criminal and the key accused of the very famous day light shoot out of Siraj whose killing was executed by Mattha and his aides at the court premises in front of the Chalani Guard and ASI Chandan Singh who lost his life in an attempt to protect Siraj, SHO added.

All the accused of Siraj killing case were Sentenced to life time imprisonment but Mattha was out on bail from last few years. Other than that Shakil is also involved in another day light shootout in which a local business man Sanjay Bhandhari was targeted by the accused over property dispute. Mattha is a habitual criminal and has around 12 cases including murder, attempt of murder and assault in his name.
