The joint team of Udaipur police and Special Task Force has caught a trio on Friday with a 1000 years old metal statue of Jain Lord Adinath while they were trying to find buyers for the stolen statue to sell for Rs.4 Cr.

The joint team of Udaipur police and Special Task Force has caught a trio on Friday with a 1000 years old metal statue of Jain Lord Adinath while they were trying to find buyers for the stolen statue to sell for Rs.4 Cr.

According to SP Rajendra Prasad Goyal, the in charge of Special Task Force Abdul Rehman got a tip through sources who informed that a trio would pass through Rampura Circle of city in a car who is possessing  valuable metal statue of Jain Lord Adinath which they want to sell for a large amount. Reacting on the information, Rehman along with Station Head Officer of Hatipol police Rajesh Sharma and their team raided the area and nabbed the accused trio during barricading.

Seeing the police barricade the accused tried to flee but they were chased and arrested along with the metal statue. On interrogating them the accused were identified as Roshan Lal Meghwal (35) of  Adarsh Nagar University road and the other two were identified as Vikas Rao (24) and Jugnu Bhawsaar of Ayad area of Udaipur, SP said.

The seized statue is having writing on its back (Samwad 1441) as per the Hindu calendar which states that it is around 1000 years old, SP added.
