A truck with illegal liquor of worth Rs. 40 Lac was confiscated by Udaipur police on Tuesday morning. While the accused driver was arrested, the spotter of the truck managed to flee from the crime scene.

Sub Inspector Bharat Yogi said that they received information about truck carrying illegal liquor heading towards Gujarat while passing through Parsad highway. Within minutes, a barricading was launched near Den Bank and police spotted the truck coming that way. When the police tried to stop, the truck driver tried to flee but after chasing, the accused was nabbed.

The arrested truck driver was identified as Subedin, resident of Alwar district. During the interrogation, Subedin informed that the liquor belonged to Haryana and was to be delivered to Shyamla Ji, Gujarat. He added that the truck contained 1033 cartons of illegal liquor.

The driver had kept old sets of refrigerators to misguide the police while checking as the other half of the truck was filled with liquor. During his journey from Haryana, the accused driver had also changed the license plate of the truck, Yogi added.

While the truck and accused are arrested, the search for the spotter is still on.
