Amabamata policy on Saturday arrested a technical assistant of Vidhyut Vibhag and a loading tempo driver for being involved in the racket of Heavy duty cable theft and also seized tons of stolen cable from them. However, the key accused is still absconding and his hunt is on.

Amabamata policy on Saturday arrested a technical assistant of Vidhyut Vibhag and a loading tempo driver for being involved in the racket of Heavy duty cable theft and also seized tons of stolen cable from them. However, the key accused is still absconding and his hunt is on.

The arrested accused identified as Nitesh Patidar, technical assistant at Vidhyut Vibhag and Mohan Singh, a driver were arrested while they were carrying huge quantity of heavy duty electrical cable being stolen from Vidhyut Vibhag situated at Pratap Nagar.

Amabamata police on Friday got a tipoff that one Harkesh Choudhary will pass through Rani road while heading towards Chittorgarh with a huge quantity of stolen electrical cable, S.P Rajendra Prasad Goyal said.

SHO, Ambamata police with team launched a barricading when a loading tempo was spotted by the cops coming towards them. But before cops could reach to the tempo, it stopped and he driver fled from the scene in the car that overtook the tempo from behind. Police hurried and nabbed the driver.

The tempo was confiscated which revealed 12 quintal 270 gm of electrical cable and 14 quintal 500 gm of similar cable stuffed in the vehicle. On interrogation of the driver, he said that the cables were stolen with the help of contractor Harkesh Choudhary and two other employees of Vidhyut Vibhag Dev Dutt Sen and Nitesh Patidar who had asked him to bring the consignment at Rani Road. Similarly, another consignment was loaded in a truck numbered RJ 19-GA-3011, said SP.

SP Goyal added that construction work is undergoing at Vidhyut Vibhag which is handed over to MM Construction firm. The accused Harkesh is working with the firm as contractor and used to visit the Vibhag’s office since few days.

He along with two other employees of the Vibhag got involved in theft of cables costing around Lac of Rupees. Till now, the police were successful in arresting driver Mohan Singh and Nitesh Patidar whereas the efforts to arrest the other accused is still on.
