Two men accused of beating villager to death arrested

Udaipur Police on Sunday arrested 2 herdsmen in connection to the murder of a villager while 2 other accused are still absconding. The arrested accused revealed that they had killed the man after nabbing him while he was stealing their cattle with an intention to eat their meat.

Udaipur Police on Sunday arrested 2 herdsmen in connection to the murder of a villager while 2 other accused are still absconding. The arrested accused revealed that they had killed the man after nabbing him while he was stealing their cattle with an intention to eat their meat.

The accused identified as Hameraram Rebari of  Jhalor and Bhima Rebari of Pali were arrested by the police on Sunday from the jungles of Zhamar Kotra area of the Goverdhan Vlias police station circle, whereas two of their aids Sava Rebari and Posaram Rebari are still on run.

Deputy SP Ranu Sharma informed that since the incidence of murder came in light the police team were raiding residence of herdsmen in adjoining areas as well as jungles of the district. During the investigation, the police got the clues about the accused and after efforts by cops’ team led by AdSP Anant Kumar and Ranu Sharma, the accused were arrested for the murder of victim Nana Lal of Babarmal village

In the initial investigation the accused revealed that on August 5th victim Nana Lal and Ramesh attacked their herd where accused Bhima and Hameraram were keeping the night’s watch who later spotted the victims and targeted them with sticks. They tied Ramesh with ropes while Nana Lal succumbed to his injuries. They dumped the dead body a few meters away in the jungle and continued to beat Ramesh. They were assisted later by 2 other accused Savaram and Posaram who tortured Ramesh.

The accused moved towards the camps to pick up their family but on their return at the place of incidence, Ramesh was gone, informed DySP Sharma. The accused also added that they had started guarding their herd from past few days as their sheep were being stolen by someone in the past too.

On the other side, one of the friends of victim Ramesh Thavra Meena informed the police that on 5th August, he met Nana Lal and Ramesh at Babarmal village where they planned to steal sheep from the Rebari community of nearby area but he refused to join them. Next morning, Nana Lal’s dead body was found in the jungle while Ramesh is missing since that day, Ranu added.

A missing person complaint has been registered for Ramesh and a search operation for him and the other absconding accused is the search for the other 2 absconding accused is on.
