Udaipur Anti Corruption Bureau has nabbed a DySP under probation along with two of his subordinates for demanding bribe from a pair of licensed liquor shop owners at Panarva Village.

Udaipur Anti Corruption Bureau has nabbed a DySP under probation along with two of his subordinates for demanding bribe from a pair of licensed liquor shop owners at Panarva Village.

The accused trio was brought to Udaipur today by the ACB team for further investigation.

As per AdSP ACB; Manish Sharma who was posted at Kotra circle as DySP from last three months and his subordinate Dhul Meena, SHO, Panarva Police Station along with Prabhu Lal Meena, Head Constable & in-charge of Daaya Choki have been caught and booked under charges of taking bribe by the Anti Corruption Bureau last night.

The Head Constable, who was arrested from a different location, revealed during interrogation that the bribe amount of Rs. 75,000 was taken by the SHO from the applicant on behalf of the DySP as directed by him.  This information was provided by AdSP Rajendra Prasad Goyal.

Applicants Sunil Puriba and Krishna Gopal Purbia are residents of Pulla, Udaipur and they run three licensed liquor shops at Panarva, Dayya and Sadda villages; informed the ACB team.  They further informed that, “At the night of 26th November at around 8.30 PM when their sales men were selling liquor at their Panarva shop, the accused DySP came there in an Alto car with three constables and threatened the staff as well as the customers of the liquor shop”.

“He threatened by imposing a fake Police case of transporting liquor to Gujarat illegally; and placed some of the liquor boxes in a Gujarat numbered Scorpio owned by one of the costumer. After doing so, he booked the one of the sales man – Bhanwar Singh and the driver of Scorpio car – Dilip Singh under fake charges”.

The applicants further informed that, when both of them reached their shop; the accused DySP demanded Rs. 5,00,000 on which they paid amount of Rs. 4,70,000. Even after that, accused DySP lodged a fake case against them and also ordered them to pay the remaining Rs. 30 thousand as soon as possible.

On the next day when the duo of the shop owners went to Panarva Police Station to inquire about their case, the SHO placed another demand of Rs. 25,000 in return of deleting the case from the records.  Plus, on other related context, he asked the victims to raise their monthly ‘Hafta’ (which victims were paying on regular basis) to Rs. 15,000.

The victims then reached Udaipur ACB office on 17th Dec, 2013 and presented their complaint against the accused, informed AdSP.

Filing the report, a special team was formed by AdSP, Rajendra Prasad Goyal which included DySP ,Rajiv Joshi, Virendra Singh Hada, Harish Chandra, Himmat Singh, Akhtar Khan, Danish Khan, Jitendra Sanadiya, Santosh Kumar, Munir and Bhagvat Singh. The team started working on the case and when all accusations were confirmed, yesterday they went to Panarva – where the SHO was arrested red handed, whereas DySP and Head constable were arrested later.

DySP, ACB Rajiv Joshi informed that when the team reached the house of  the accused DYSP; he locked the gates from inside and the team had to make significant efforts to nab the accused from the house itself.

Meanwhile, another such team was searching for the Head Constable and found out that he was hiding at the rented-house of another colleague at the Police Station.   They then rushed to the scene and arrested him.

“Yesterday, when the applicants handed over the amount of Rs. 75,000 (of decided amount of Rs. 1,00,000) to the SHO confirming that, Rs. 20,000 will be paid by them in the near future. The SHO meanwhile, kept Rs. 25,000 in his pocket and kept the other Rs. 50,000 in his hands”, informed the DySP ACB.

“As SHO saw the ACB team closing near him, he threw the cash worth Rs. 50,000 which was in his hand, to the ground”, he added.

ACB then collected the thrown currency along with the ones in his pocket and arrested him.

Accused Manish Sharma, a resident of Gopalpura, B. Scheme, Jaipur was posted as DySP at the Kotra Circle for the last three months. He had been given deemed confirmation of his post yesterday itself and previously he had worked as Asst. Engg at the Railway Deptt.

The accused SHO joined the Police Deptt. as a Constable in 1986 and the other accused Head Constable Prabhu Lal was working for Police Deptt. since 1982.
