Udaipur Police Arrest School Gym Trainer Accused of Molesting a Female Student

Udaipur, Sept 03, 2025: Pradeep Singh Jhala, the gym trainer accused of molesting a 13 yr old girl student in school premises on August 26, was apprehended by the police on September 2, eight days after the incident.

As per the police, the accused was apprehended at Court Chauraha when he was waiting for someone to hand him money. Pradeep had absconded from Udaipur from the day of the incident and reached Bangalore after changing cities in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Goa. He kept changing locations to escape arrest as the police followed him for nearly 2,500 km. The police had also taken court orders to freeze his bank account, following which, he fell short of money. He returned to Udaipur to access funds, and while he was waiting at the Court Chauraha to recieve the money, the police apprehended him.

Over the last 8 days, there have been regular demonstrations demanding the arrest of the accused. After he was arrested, the police took him to the school premises for investigating the scene of the incident, Pradeep attempted to run away and jumped in the Ayad river, which flows alongside the school. While doing so, he fell into a ditch and fractured his leg. The police apprehended him and took him to MB Hospital for treatment. The accused has already been accused of planning a robbery in 2018, for which as case has been registered against him at Hiran Magri Police station. He has also spent a few months in prison, being charged under the Arms Act.

The Background

On August 26, a man filed and FIR with Ambamata Police station, reporting that his 13 yr old daughter, a student of Alok School at Panchwati in Udaipur, was called to school on a holiday by the accused, on the pretext of training. The victim girl was pursuing weight lifting and was under training with the accused at her school. The girl apparently was not aware that the said date was a holiday called by the District Collector as it was and orange alert in Udaipur. She visited the school and was alone in the premises. The gym trainer, as per the report, attempted to molest her after taking photos of the girl and warned her that her father would be hurt and that she would not get a chance to compete at the national level. The girl, on reaching home, narrated the matter to her parents, post which the complain was registered.

School's Version

The management at Alok (Sansthan) School said that the accused was not an employee of their school. He had rented the gym at the school to be used for his personal business and the arrangement was such that he would provide free of cost training and guidance to the students of the school and in the barter, not pay rent for the gym of the school.

Police are investigating the matter.
