Aman, a 7-year-old student of Navdeep Academy, Udaipur was reunited with his parents today after being kidnapped yesterday.
The kidnapper, Sonu Singh Chouhan, a man employed with Aman’s father, abducted Aman from his house at Kalkamata road yesterday morning and took him to Ahmedabad.
The child was rescued after Udaipur police, on interrogating two of Sonu’s colleagues, Brijesh and Suresh Yadav, found the whereabouts of the accused in Ahmedabad and alerted the Ahmedabad Police.
Sonu hails from Jaunpur, U.P. and was employed by Aman’s father, Ranjeet Singh who is a labour contractor.
As per the information received, Ranjeet had to pay Sonu Rs.45,000 as labour charges, which had been due since long. Though no ransom call had been made by Sonu, the Police assumes that this outstanding amount could be the reason behind the kidnapping.
Aman was kidnapped yesterday morning from his house, while his mother thought that he had gone to school. When he didn’t return back till 12pm, his mother called school where she was informed that Aman had not come to school. The family tried searching for the boy on their own, but when they failed to find him, they approached police.
Police detained Brijesh and Suresh Yadav, both working with Sonu Singh and interrogated them. In the interrogation, they revealed that Sonu had taken the boy to Ahmedabad to his relative’s house. Udaipur police informed Ahmedabad police who then raided the residence of Sonu’s relative at 8:30pm and rescued the child. Sonu was also arrested from there.
The Police team from Udaipur along with Aman’s father immediately left for Ahmedabad to bring back the child as well as take the accused under custody.
