[UPDATED] Three Arrested in Ranakpur Bus Robbery
Three suspects of robbery and assault were arrested by police today. The accused are allegedly involved in robbing 22 passengers of a Jodhpur-Udaipur bound roadways bus at Ranakpur on 20th March.

According to police, nearly seven men robbed the bus and a car and assaulted three people, including a bus passenger Puran Chand, bus driver Rahim Khan and a car driver Ram Singh. They looted cash Rs. 60,000, mobile phones and several numbers of valuables from the passengers.
Five suspected robbers are still at large, while three are caught with joint effort of police team from Udaipur, Gogunda and Sayra areas.
The highway robbery had shaken the entire region and also raised concern over the commuters passing through Udaipur-Ranakpur road.
Udaipur Police Superintendent, Hariprasad Sharma informed that, Ranakpur police has arrested Jagga Ram Gameti, Mohan Gameti and Pema Gameti. Police also claimed for identifying two absconding accused and assured they will be nabbed soon.
On the night of 22 March, Robbers pelted stones on the bus, while they were already looting a car; they entered in the bus and started snatching cash and valuables from the passengers. In the mishap, one of the passengers Puran Chand was stabbed by the robbers. When Rahim Khan, driver of the bus retaliated, he was also beaten.
Somehow, Khan managed to inform police, but robbers fled in the dark.
According to police, all the three accused have past criminal records and one of the accused was absconding in a murder case since a long time.
UPDATE: 9th April: 4 Mobiles, Clothes and Bags recovered in Ranakpur Loot case
The Ranakpur valley loot of a roadways bus saw another happening on 8th April, as a resident of Sanmaria village, Puna Gameti was arrested by the Udaipur Police. The other accused arrested have been sent to Police remand till 12th April. As of date, four mobile phones, clothes and bags were recovered from the accused during the interrogation.
