In a shocking incident of brutal violence against woman, a 40 year old widow was stripped naked and beaten up by her in-laws on Tuesday over a long standing property dispute.

The stunning incident took place at Narsinghpura village of Badi Sadri tehsil in Chittorgarh district in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The victim Kamla Bai w/o late Shantilal Suthar was returning home from the animal shed in the farm area at about 5.30 in the morning after milking buffaloes. She was stopped at the village premises by her father-in-law Prabhulal Suthar (82), brother-in-law Suresh Suthar (22) and sister in law Pushpa w/o Ramesh Chandra Suthar.

The trio first abused her verbally and later stripped her naked, dragging her to the village temple. The women was beaten up brutally all over her body and as she fell unconscious, the assailants fled away.

Heeralal Meena, SHO Badi Sadri said “ Since the incident took place early in the morning, no one could reach to the victims rescue. However in the morning some people spotted her in bleeding condition and rushed her to the nearest hospital at Kanod where she was took under medical care”.

Property dispute has been stated as the main reason for the assault, held the police. The victim was said to be living with her daughter in law as her son was employed somewhere in Mumbai while her in-laws lived elsewhere. The victim had lost her husband 20 years ago and since then there had been animosity between the families over the deceased property.

The victim has suffered severe injuries on her back and lower portions of the body. Her condition was reported to have improved later on. The police was informed by the hospital authorities who arranged for the medical examination of the victim and registered the complaint under section 34,323,324, 325, 360, 354 and 503 of the IPC.

Later in the evening, police arrested Prabhulal and Suresh who are being interrogated and will be produced before the magistrate on Wednesday.
