A woman accused of extorting money from businessmen of the city was arrested on Wednesday on the pretext of blackmailing them of their objectionable pictures and revealing them to the police. Out of her 2 aids, one is in jail for keeping illegal weapons and the other is on the run, police informed.

DySP Madhuri Verma informed that the ordeal had begun few months back when a victim Rafeeq’s driver took him to the accused woman’s house. She got him unconscious after giving him a beverage and clicked objectionable pictures with him. Later, the driver dropped him at his house at 80 ft road, Mullatalai.

Verma added that past few weeks of the incidence, she started making extortion calls to the victim for Rs. 30 Lac or she would lodge a complaint against him for sexual assault, with the pictures and videos. The deal was negotiated to Rs. 2.5 Lac after Rafeeq met with the woman out of which Rs. 1.5 Lac were paid in advance with the remaining amount were to be paid after a week.

The series of threatening calls and demand of cash thereafter made the victim lodge a complaint against the accused on 16^th April at Goverdhan Vilas police station. The matter was probed by Deputy SP Madhuri Verma on the orders of SP and she finally arrested the accused on Wednesday.

During investigation it was found that the accused, for many years was successful in extracting money from more than dozen businessmen by blackmailing them on the pretext of alleged illicit relationship, Verma informed.

The accused was a resident of Verma Colony, sector 9 and was running the racket from a flat situated at Goverdhan Sagar area with the help of 2 associates Ahmed, who is in jail and Mehmood, who is on run.
