A 22 year old woman committed suicide by setting herself on fire at her house on Tuesday evening. She was rushed to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday and her was body shifted to mortuary.

The victim was a resident of Eklavya colony of Ambamata police station circle and wasn’t well from last few days. She was taken to Devra (a religious place) by her relatives due to her ill health. After their return, in the evening she set herself on fire with kerosene.

She was rushed to the MB hospital where she was put under treatment overnight but succumbed to her injuries the next day.

Victim’s father in his report to the police stated that she was married for four years and was unable to conceive a child. She was also suffering from severe abdominal pain for a long time, said police.

Prima Facie, the inability to conceive a child and her health issues are considered to be the reason for her committal of suicide. However, the real reason will come in light after further investigation, Ambamata Police added.
