A 56 year old man was arrested by Pratap Nagar police for brutally killing an elderly woman and cutting her body in multiple pieces with an intention of loot.

The accused was identified as Ramesh Garg from Ajmer who killed the 80-year-old Mohini Bai (80) after strangulating her with a sari and throwing the pieces of her body at two areas of the city.

The incidence came in light on Monday morning when the legs of the victim were found floating in a pond at Sunderwas area. The Pratap Nagar police reacted upon the information and launched a search operation. Later it was found that the legs belonged to Mohini Bai, resident of Sunderwas who was missing since last 2 days, said SP R.P Goyal.

During investigation, the neighbors of the victim had doubt over tenant Ramesh for killing her and following the information, he was detained from the victim’s house who was living there for the last 1.5 months, SP added.

During the interrogation, the accused accepted committing the crime of killing the woman by strangulating her with her sari. In order to loot the 6-7 tolas of gold & silver ornaments worn by her, he snatched the earrings first and cut the legs off to take away the silver anklets that she wore.

The accused later that night cut her entire body into pieces with a saw and stuffed them in a plastic sack. He immediately disposed the sack off to Municipal Corporation dustbin lying a few meters away from the house. The legs of the victim were kept separately which were thrown in the pond, as per SP.

Ramesh revealed that he was working as a security guard with Sharp Securities from last 1 year and had recently shifted to the victim’s house at Sunderwas from Pratap Nagar.

SP added that a missing person report was lodged by the victim’s son on Sunday which was taken seriously by the police and had launched a search operation.

The picture got clear when Chetan, neighbor of victim claimed to have seen Ramesh committing the crime and was an eye witness to this horrific incident. As Chetan was afraid he didn’t share it with anyone but his friend later.

The accused has been arrested and the body parts are recovered from the dumping yard of the municipal corporation situated at Balicha. The body parts have been shifted to the mortuary while the accused is booked for murder.
