The prolong problem between the local residents of Payda who opposed the operation of liquor shop and the shop owner turned tense yesterday when the shop owner and his family allegedly attacked two women.

Police has detained the accused family members for misbehaving with females and attacking them. A large number of locals demonstrated outside Pratap Nagar Police station against the accused.

According to the sources, people of the area raised objection on a liquor shop to be opened in the residential area, and administration also debarred opening the shop in residential area.

The accused Chunnilal Salvi, who wanted to rent his shop to liquor contractor was frustrated with the protest and the orders of administration. Yesterday, Salvi got into argument with a female of the area identified as Seema Meghwal.

Seema has alleged Salvi for slapping her and misbehaving with her. During the scuffle another woman came to rescue Seema but she also became the victim of abuse. The angry residents informed police about the incident.

Laburam, SHO of Pratapnagar Police informed, “We have detained Chunnilal, his wife and son and will investigate the incident.”

According to a protesting woman, when the excise department and district collector both have directed the liquor traders not to open shop in the residential area then why they are still trying to open the shop.
