A middle aged woman Sudha Pahuja and her daughter-in-law Komal, residents of Jawahar Nagar were targeted by a duo of con men for their ornaments. The accused introduced themselves as CBI officers with fake identity cards and fled with ornaments.

The incidence occurred on Friday afternoon at Shakti Nagar when the victim women were returning   to their house after attending the inaugural function a relatives’ shop there. Victims Sudha & Pooja were stopped by the accused who introduced themselves as the officers of CBI who told them to be undercover cops trying to catch chain snatchers and thieves as part of the drive, informed police.

The cops asked the women to remove their ornaments and wrap them in paper. Before they could keep them in their bag, they were taken by the cops for verification. The victims followed the instructions and were given a paper bag that they kept inside their bag. Few minutes later when the victims took the bag out which had 3 gold bangles and 1 gold chain of 6 tola, they found the jewelry to be missing replaced by imitation jewelry. The victims immediately informed the relatives and police who registered the case at Surajpol police station.

Soon a barricading was launched in the city to catch the accused and police team is also taking help from the CCTVs installed in the area, informed the police.
