CCTV footage uploaded on video sharing website YouTube helped solve a case of theft at a Jewelry Store in Udaipur.  A man and woman, two of the accused were arrested by Ahmedabad Police and handed over to their counterparts in Udaipur.

The accused Poonam alias Purnima, wife of Kartik Kodekar and Ravindra alias Batalia, both residents of Sardar Nagar, Ahmadabad are cousins and have committed several thefts at Jewelry Shops located in different states.

On 22^nd Feb, both allegedly stole a precious gold necklace from Euro Gold Jewelry Shop at Moti Chohatta.  The owner of the shop, Sandeep Doshi reported the incident to Ghanta Ghar Police.

Inquisitive after the incident, Doshi was checking some videos of theft on YouTube and suddenly came across a video showing two persons who resembled the suspects who came to his shop.  Sandeep immediately checked footage of his store and found that both suspects were the same.

Information of video footage on YouTube was given to the police and Udaipur police investigated the video.

After days of investigation, police found that the video on YouTube was that of a Jewelry shop in Kolkata where the accused Poonam and Ravindra stole a diamond necklace and were also arrested by Kolkata Police.

Subsequently, co-ordination between police departments of Udaipur, Ahmedabad and Kolkata, led to arrest of the accused 4^th March from their Ahmadabad residence.  A police team from Udaipur took their custody from Ahmedabad.

Cracking the case and resultant arrests of the accused has brought a sigh of relief amongst the members of the Sarrafa community.  Sarrafa Association convener Inder Singh Mehta congratulated the Police department and appreciated the alertness shown by Sandeep Doshi.
