The Indian Institute of Management Udaipur IIM-U is very expected to start its first session from 2011 in the close supervision of renowned Industrialist Mr. C.K Birla a newly appointed chairman of the board of the new institute, said Mr.Samir Barua IIM-A Director while addressing a press conference in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. However, the post of Director for IIM-U is still vacant and will be selected shortly. As the new academic session is about to begin, IIM-A is also set to roll out their task of mentoring IIM-U. The Union Ministry of Human Resources Development (HRD) has assigned IIM-Ahmedabad to take the responsibility of being an advisor to the new IIM in Udaipur. The land for IIM-U is finalized in Balicha, outskirt of Udaipur. The HRD Ministry has also shown IIM-A a green flag to set up campus in overseas but we will focus on IIM-U for now, said Mr. Barua and Dean Prof B .H Jajoo later in the press conference.
