Udaipur, Nov 28, 2025: The Governor of Rajasthan and the Chancellor of Mohan Lal Sukhadia University, Haribhau Bagde, accepted the resignation of Prof. Sunita Mishra, who was serving as Vice Chancellor of the Mohan Lal Sukhadia University (MLSU) in Udaipur since August 2023.

Her appointment as VC in 2023 was followed by a few instances where the students and administration of MLSU had not come to terms with a few decisions taken by her. The latest in the series, was a statement made by her during a University event in September this year, where she described the Mughar ruler, Aurangzeb as a good administrator, which evoked criticism from students and student bodies. A few comments on Maharana Pratap also did not go down well with the student faternity at MLSU. The protests against Mishra followed lockdowns and stopping of classes across the University over the next few days of this incident.

In her statement, she said that her remarks on Aurangzeb and comparing his efficient administration to that of Maharana Pratap and Prithviraj Chauhan were taken out of context. She also issued a public apology and after this, she went on leave. Now, after a period of nearly two months, she sent a letter of resignation to the Governor of Rajasthan, which was immediately accepted, subject to the report of the enquiry committee constituted under the chair of the Divisional Commissioner of Udaipur on various complaints received against her.
