A group of students from College of Science, MLSU put across their concern over the alleged misbehavior by the Dean, Mahip Bhatnagar by presenting a memorandum to the Vice-chancellor of MLSU on morning of 16th April. The students demanded immediate suspension of the dean and warned for violent protest in future if their demands were overlooked.

The students alleged that Prof. Bhatnagar has verbally abused two students. According to the letter written by Parvat Singh Rana, General Secretary of Central Student’s Union, the dean ill treated a student named Karan Meghwal who was not able to write his exam due to the injuries he received in an accident and requested for another student on his place to write.

The letter also stated that though Prof. Bhatanagar allowed another student Harish Meena to assist Karan but he verbally abused Meena.

However, Professor Mahip Bhatnagar (in photo above) straightly denied all allegations made by the students and said that he has no knowledge of students protesting against him and regarding the case of Meghwal, he said, “The student named Karan Meghwal came to me with a special consideration and I directed my juniors to assist him, I have never abused anyone and it is surprising for me that the same students are against me whom I helped so much.”

Another section of the students of the same college are supporting Prof. Mahip Bhatnagar and denied any misbehavior by Professor.

Bhagwat Singh Ranawat, a student pursuing Ph.D in Chemistry said that he has always found the professor is very helping in nature and has never mistreated any of the students.

Another student who commented on the condition of anonymity said that many of the students who are protesting against the professor themselves have bad record in the college with allegations of ragging etc.

On the other side the protesting students stated the same allegations on those who are supporting Prof. Bhatnagar.

While talking to the media the professor assumed that it could be politically motivated as elections are approaching.
