'Coolie' Hindi Review: Rajinikanth Shines in a Masterpiece, Post-Credit Scene Leaves Fans Stunned
While 'Coolie' impresses with its blend of action, emotion, and suspense, it struggles with uneven storytelling, particularly due to its multiple plot shifts. Rajinikanth delivers a strong performance, but the film falls short in fully utilizing its ensemble cast.
Mumbai, Aug 15, 2025: Director Lokesh Kanagaraj and Rajinikanth’s action thriller 'Coolie' hit theaters today. Fans had been waiting for its release for a long time, and now the movie is ready to entertain the audience. With 'Coolie' now out, reactions and reviews from viewers have started coming in on social media.
In 'Coolie', Rajinikanth plays Deva and leads a strong cast that includes Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and Shruti Haasan in key roles. The film also stars Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, Kanna Ravi, Monisha Blessy, and Kaali Venkat in supporting roles.
The story is about a former gold smuggler who brings his old team back together using stolen technology hidden in antique golden watches. This sets off a chain of intense events. 'Coolie' has been released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.
Action, Drama, and Big Surprises
'Coolie' delivers a power-packed cinematic experience that holds attention from the very first frame. The storyline offers a balanced mix of action, emotion, drama, thrill, and suspense, making it engaging throughout. While the first half moves at a slower pace, the second half gathers momentum and keeps the intensity high. Rajinikanth’s performance is both intense and commanding, leaving a strong impact on the audience.
The main issue with 'Coolie' is that it tries to include too many ideas. The film starts as a revenge thriller, with a man seeking answers for his friend’s death, but soon shifts into a story about a common man exposing a crime syndicate. The transition is not smooth, which makes some moments enjoyable, but the film as a whole feels uneven.
Rajinikanth gives his best in 'Coolie', but the story does not do justice to his performance. The focus keeps shifting from him to Soubin to Simon, without creating a strong impact. Soubin has an interesting character arc, but the film does not fully use his talent. Nagarjuna looks stylish as Simon, but his character is one-dimensional, so the audience can only rely on his charm. Shruti Haasan’s performance as Preethi is one of her most powerful in recent times. Among the ensemble cast, Kanna Ravi and Rachitha Ram also leave a mark with their short but effective roles.
The film has many loose ends and disjointed storytelling, which makes 'Coolie' less enjoyable. Rajinikanth has fun on screen, but the film itself struggles. Watching the endless cameos is reminiscent of Jailer. Since characters like Aamir Khan were revealed before the release, their appearances on screen have little impact. It often leaves the feeling of “what’s next?”
Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Sathyaraj deliver solid performances, while Shruti Haasan and Pooja Hegde leave a notable mark. Aamir Khan’s surprise cameo adds an unexpected twist that elevates the overall experience. Lokesh Kanagaraj’s direction ensures each scene is crafted with precision and impact.
Both the end credit and post-credit scenes contain unexpected moments that bring a mix of surprise and delight. 'Coolie' stands out as a well-made action drama with strong performances and impressive filmmaking, making it one of the most talked-about releases of the season.
