DC Trailer Review: Lokesh Kanagaraj Brings Brutal Action and Dark Romance to Screen

May 16, 2026: The intense new trailer of DC has finally been released, offering a gripping glimpse into a dark gangster drama inspired by the classic tale of Devadas. The film stars Lokesh Kanagaraj in the lead role alongside Wamiqa Gabbi.

Directed by Arun Matheswaran, who previously helmed Captain Miller, the film blends romance, crime and action in a stylish and violent setting.

The trailer, which runs for over three minutes, opens with Arun Matheswaran’s signature filmmaking style featuring gritty black-and-white visuals and brutal action choreography. Gunfights, bloodshed and intense chase sequences dominate the promo, setting the tone for what appears to be a raw and emotional gangster saga.

Anirudh Ravichander’s Music Elevates the Trailer

One of the biggest highlights of the trailer is the powerful background score composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The music combines classical elements with energetic rock undertones, perfectly complementing both the emotional and action-packed moments in the trailer. Going by the trailer, the story revolves around Devadas and Chandra, which also explains the title DC. Lokesh Kanagaraj plays Devadas, a gangster who is on the run from the police after committing a violent crime. Meanwhile, Wamiqa Gabbi’s character Chandra is also shown escaping from the law after getting caught in a similar situation.

As the story progresses, Devadas is forced to protect Chandra, and their bond gradually develops into a love story amid chaos, violence and constant danger. Apart from Lokesh and Wamiqa Gabbi, the film also stars Sanjana Krishnamoorthy in an important role as Parvathi. The film is backed by Sun Pictures, while Arun Ranjan has worked on the additional screenplay. Dialogues have been written by Arun Matheswaran and Franklin Jacob. The cinematography is handled by Mukesh G, with editing by GK Prasanna.

Lokesh Kanagaraj Also Preparing for AA23 After Coolie

On the professional front, Lokesh Kanagaraj is also preparing for his next directorial venture after Coolie, starring Rajinikanth.

The filmmaker is expected to direct AA23, featuring Allu Arjun in the lead role. The upcoming project is said to be a stylish action entertainer, with Anirudh Ravichander composing the music.

There are also reports suggesting that Pooja Hegde may be approached to play the female lead, although an official confirmation is still awaited.
