Mumbai, Nov 16, 2025: Amitabh Bachchan shared his condolences on his blog on Saturday. Legendary actress Kamini Kaushal passed away at the age of 98. She took her last breath on Friday. Big B wrote, “Another loss… a dear friend from the old days… from a time when the country was not divided. Kamini Kaushal ji… a legendary artist, she stayed with us till her last days.”

Amitabh also said that Kamini’s sister was a close friend of his mother. He wrote, “Kaminiji’s sister was a very close friend of my mother. They were classmates and formed a happy, like-minded group. Sadly, her sister died in an accident, and as per the custom of those days, the husband of the deceased sister married the other sister.”

Veteran Actress Kamini Kaushal Passes Away

Legendary Bollywood actress Kamini Kaushal passed away on Friday, November 14, at the age of 98. According to family sources, she breathed her last in Mumbai. The family has requested privacy as they mourn her loss.

Amitabh Bachchan expressed his grief on social media, writing, “A very gentle, sincere and talented artist has left us. At the age of 98, an era of memories has ended. Her absence has created a void in the film world and among friends. This is a sad moment, filled with grief and prayers. Her acting is now only a memory.”

Several Bollywood stars also paid tribute to the veteran actress. Shahid Kapoor, who acted with her in Kabir Singh, wrote, “Rest in peace ma’am.”

Kiara Advani shared, “It was a privilege to work with you. Your humility and talent inspired generations and left a lasting mark on Indian cinema. Rest in peace, Kamini Kaushal ji.”

Kamini Kaushal was last seen in a cameo role in Laal Singh Chaddha.

A Remarkable Seven-Decade Career

Born on February 24, 1927, Kamini Kaushal was one of the earliest female superstars of Indian cinema. She made her debut in 1946 with Neecha Nagar, a historic film that won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival — the only Indian film to receive this honour till date.

Her career saw many milestones as she worked with iconic actors such as Dilip Kumar and Raj Kapoor. With her calm screen presence and powerful performances, she earned widespread appreciation in more than 90 films, including Shaheed, Nadia Ke Paar, Ziddi, Shabnam, and Arju.

As the years passed, she transitioned to character roles and continued to deliver memorable performances in films like Do Raste and Prem Nagar. She remained connected to cinema even in the 1990s.

Kamini Kaushal’s contribution to Indian cinema spans more than seven decades, leaving behind a rich legacy that will continue to inspire future generations.
