The traditional Chhadi Milan program during Moharram which was outlawed last year due to violent attack between two groups of a community is now permitted by district collector. The decision came along after a group of people appealed to permit the ritual.

The Chhadi Milan is done on the 9th day of Moharram as a part of local tradition, though the custom has no religious significance.

Muslim community of Mewafarosh approached district administrative officials and appealed them to allow the ritual this year as it has social and traditional importance between the communities.

Collector Ashutosh Pednekar has directed the representatives of the community to change the time of ritual to 1 am. The meeting was held in front of all top police officials and district officers.

Collector has also asked representatives to give names of 21 senior and responsible individual of the community who will take the responsibility of nonviolent ritual.

Mukhtar Qureshi, a senior member and one of the representatives informed that, “Chhadi Milan is done at Kamal Gali, Bhadbhuja Ghati where Chhadis from two different areas ( Mewafarosh Mohalla and Kunjarwadi) are touch and return back to their respective areas.”
