The Annual three day ‘URS’ of Mastaan Shah Baba (Hazrat Abdul Rauf), a well-known Sufi Saint ended today on January 23, 20112.

A huge number of followers, disciples; many of them from nearby places of Udaipur visited the Dargah of the Saint, over the last three days, to pay their homage and pray for the fulfillment of wishes.

A festive mood reigned over the three days at the vicinity of the Dargah, as the Urs started with the customary lifting of the flag.

The meaning of the Urdu word ‘URS’ is meeting with the Almighty. It is believed in Sufi’sm that on the day when Saint depart from the world, that is the day when they meet the Almighty.

On the first day of the URS, a meeting or milad was held, where a large number of devotees came together in spite of the chilling weather.

On the second day, a qawwali program was organized by the Mastaan Baba Committee, where various famous Qawwal parties, both from Udaipur and other cities participated.

On the third & the last day of the URS, a session of Quraan Khwaani (reciting Holy Quran) was held, which started at 6 am and continued for the larger part of the morning.

Hundred s of kilos of roses; food and water for the poor and the visitors at the shrine of the Saint was made available by the Committee.

Sweets and sherbet of all types were prepared for distribution among all the visitors, especially the kids.

Chaaders (decorative sheets) were presented from different area of Udaipur, including most ward members. Many were from the non-Muslim followers too.

At 12:30 pm a program of mehfil-e samma(qawwali) was held and after that at 2:30 pm the fatiha was performed. The senior members of the Committee praised and thanked the Police and Administration for ensuring that the three day event culminated smoothly.
