Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla to Attend Udaipur Event on Dec 13

Udaipur, Dec 12, 2025 — Indian astronaut Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla has been invited to be the Chief Guest at a play presented by students of a government school in Udaipur on Saturday (December 13) at Vidya Bhavan School’s open-air theatre. 

Written by author and storyteller Rajat Meghnani, the play Google Kar Le Re… is directed by Sunil Tank from Prayas Sansthan. Students from Government Higher Secondary School, Varda, (along with a few artists) will be on stage as actors for the first time. A highlight of the event will be Captain Shukla’s participation in the drama as he will also take the stage to perform a small part to motivate the students. He will also interact with students and attendees at the event.

A test pilot with the Indian Air Force and gaganyatri with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), in July 2025 Shukla became the first ISRO astronaut to visit the International Space Station (ISS) while participating in Axiom Mission 4

To have the presence of a celebrated astronaut in the city and who will also be a part of an educational event among children is being seen as a special moment for Udaipur.

This is also the first-of-its-kind initiative aimed at giving a stage to government school students instead of veteran artists.

The event is being organised by Creative Circle with support from RSMML, Wonder Cement, Neenv, the West Zone Cultural Centre Udaipur and Vidya Bhavan Society. Invitation to Captain Shukla was extended by Sunil S. Laddha, programme coordinator, sketch artist and State architect.
