The Muslim community of Udaipur is all set to observe the 10th Day of Moharram tomorrow on Tuesday, 4th Nov. The day will be marked with great enthusiasm and devotion. Thousands of people will witness the Taziya Procession in the evening.

Taziya, a tower like structure made of wood and paper is a replica representing the mausoleum of Imam Hussain. It is carried by young Muslim men on their shoulders and will be taken to the Lake Pichhola for final customary process of immersing.

Out of the ten gigantic Taziyas, assembled and designed by experienced artists and craftsmen, one of the Taziyas kept near Asthal Mandir is grabbing eyes of every passerby. Unlike colorful paper and electric lights etc, this Taziya is made of 12 kg of Silver.

Abdul Majid, who made this Taziya informed that the structure is made of Sagwan wood and later covered with silver sheet. Majid said that, it is first of its kind of Taziya in Udaipur which is prepared in two months time by the team of local craftsmen and it costs around Rs.7 Lakh.
