Udaipur Marks Gandhi-Shastri Jayanti

Several programs were held in the city to mark the Gandhi Jayanti today. Schools, colleges, administrative offices, social organizations and political parties celebrated the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

The day is also celebrated at International Day of Non-violence. Lal Bahadur Shastri, the second prime minister of India was also born on this day, hence, citizens celebrated anniversaries of both national heroes.

A procession was carried out by a congress group which started from Delhi Gate and ended at Gulab Bagh where all congress activists offered flowers on Mahatama Gandhi’s idol.

MLA Raghuveer Meena, District Congress President Neelima Sukhadia and other congress leaders participated in the rally.

Congress activists of Youth Committee gathered at Gandhi Monument at Gulab Bagh. The activists head by Jai Prakash Nimawat, Mohammad Ayub, Jazi Meghwal etc remembered Mahatama Gandhi and offered flowers on the statue.

Interestingly, Nimawat and his colleagues gave a letter to the Gandhi’s statue complaining about unavailability of an office which forces all congressmen to work from home.

Nimawat said that “We have reached Rahul Gandhi and also told him about our problem but it is not solved yet, so we decided to hand our complaint to Gandhiji” said Nimawat.

Rajasthan College of Agriculture (MPUAT) organized a program on the occasion of Gandhi and Shastri Jayanti. The program was held at Vivekanand Hostel of the college.

Vice Chancellor Prof. O.P. Gill addressed the students and faculties. Prof. Gill has talked about Gandhi’s moral and ideology and advised students to follow Gandhi’s footprints.

A tree plantation and inauguration of hostel’s TV Room was also done on the occasion.

Gandhians gather at Mohan Singh Mehta Memorial Trust

A discussion program was held at Mohan Singh Mehta Memorial Trust, Vidya Bhawan on the occasion of Gandhi-Shastri Jayanti.

Many Gandhians participated in the program and talked on teachings, morals and incidents from Mahatma Gandhi’s life.

Sushil Dashora, a prominent Gandhian emphasized on non-violence policy of Mahatma Gandhi which he said is “most needed” in the present world scenario.

Nand Kishore Sharma, secretary of the trust said that, both Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri are true heroes of the country who played their roles perfectly well and stood strong in every crisis the county has faced.

Scout Guide Marked the Day with Rally

Bharat Scout Guide’s regional group organized Sarvdharm Prayer and public awareness rally. Social organizations of Lions Club also joined the cause.

The program was organized at Vivekanand auditorium at Scout Guide Headquarters.
