Free Dialysis in Rajasthan: Over 16K Patients Benefit
Under the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme, 149 dialysis machines are currently operational at 35 district hospitals across the State
UdaipurTimes, Sept 12, 2026 - Under the direction of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar, continuous efforts are being made in Rajasthan to ensure easy and free access to dialysis services for kidney patients.
So far, 16,003 patients in the State have received a total of 117,258 free dialysis sessions, as per a government press release. The estimated value of the treatment provided through these services is approximately Rs 21.11 crore. Under the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme, 149 dialysis machines are currently operational at 35 district hospitals across the State.
Principal Secretary, Medical and Health Department, Gayatri Rathore said that during the financial year 2026–27, from April to August 2026, 4,265 patients have already received 31,675 free dialysis sessions. This includes 25,860 sessions for 3,489 patients at 35 centres under the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme, and 5,815 sessions for 776 patients at medical institutions identified under the State Budget announcement.
She added that, in compliance with the 2022–23 State Budget announcement, work is underway to provide haemodialysis facilities at 182 medical institutions across the State. The facility is currently available at 102 medical institutions. Doctors and other healthcare personnel are being trained at the remaining institutions, with a target of making the facilities operational by September 30, 2026.
The Principal Secretary said that free dialysis services are also being provided through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives alongside the government healthcare system. In the future, special attention will also be given to extending dialysis services down to the Community Health Centre (CHC) level, she added.
