HPV Vaccine Drive: 44.60% Target Achieved in Udaipur
The HPV vaccine drive across the country is India’s fight against cervical cancer, aimed at safeguarding girls and young women from its risks
UdaipurTimes, Sept 11, 2026 - Under the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine campaign being conducted by the Udaipur Health Department, 130 adolescent girls were vaccinated on September 9, according to CMHO Dr Ashok Aditya. The vaccination facility is available at MB Hospital, government health centres, including Arogya Mandirs, Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Community Health Centres (CHCs), Sub-District Hospitals, District Hospitals and government medical colleges.
So far,12,364 adolescent girls have already received the vaccine in the district. The Health Department has set a target of vaccinating 27,719 girls in Udaipur district of which 44.60 per cent coverage has been achieved. As of now, 15,355 remain to be vaccinated.
The HPV is a common type of a virus. There are around a group of 200 of the HPV viruses and some types cause skin growths called warts. Infection in the high-risk people can cause genital warts or cervical cancer.
