MB Hospital Gets Rs 2.75 Crore Advanced Eye Machines
The advanced eye machines at Udaipur’s MB Hospital Opthalmology Department include surgical microscope, angiography and YAG laser — boosting eye care and surgeries in Udaipur
Udaipur, April 23, 2026 — The Ophthalmology Department of Maharana Bhupal (MB) Hospital in Udaipur, affiliated with RNT Medical College, has installed advanced eye-care machines worth Rs 2.75 crore. These machines are said to make eye examinations and surgeries easier, safer and more effective than before.
The Rajasthan government had allocated Rs 20 crore to RNT Medical College in this year’s budget, from which these machines were procured for the Ophthalmology Department.
New Machines Installed
Surgical Operating Microscope (Rs 1.25 crore)
This machine is used for cataract surgery (lens replacement), LASIK, retina surgeries and glaucoma treatment. With this addition, both diagnostics and surgical procedures have significantly improved. Earlier, serious cases had to be referred to bigger cities or private hospitals, but now most treatments can be performed locally. The microscope provides clearer visibility during surgery, reducing the chances of errors.
Angiography Machine (Rs 1 crore)
This machine is used for examining the retina (the inner layer of the eye). It provides accurate information about retinal blood vessels and blood flow. It is especially effective in detecting diseases like diabetic retinopathy at an early stage, allowing timely treatment.
YAG Laser Machine (Rs 50 lakh)
This machine helps in treating post-cataract complications, diabetes-related eye issues and certain paediatric eye conditions.
