Udaipur, Sept 11, 2025 – The long-awaited construction of the new building for Pannadhay Government Women’s Hospital within the Rabindranath Tagore Medical College (RNT) campus has finally been set in motion. Under the Chief Minister’s budget announcement, administrative approval for Rs 120 crore was issued by Namit Mehta, Udaipur District Collector and DMFT Managing Committee Chairman, on Wednesday, September 10.

The funding will be split equally — 50% from the DMFT fund and 50% from the Udaipur Development Authority (UDA). With this approval, the path for construction has been cleared, and preliminary measures for the building work will begin shortly.

Owing to the dilapidated condition of the existing Pannadhay Government Women’s Hospital, the need for a new building had been felt for a long time. The State Government had included the project in the Budget announcement.

Collector Mehta had presented the proposal before the DMFT Governing Council, where it was approved. On Wednesday, he issued the administrative sanction for Rs 120 crore.

The Department of Medical Education, as the executing agency, will carry out the subsequent procedures.
