Sept 3, 2026 - The second review meeting of the State Mental Health Authority (SMHA) was held on Wednesday, September 2, in Jaipur at the Health Bhawan under the chairpersonship of Gayatri Rathore, Principal Secretary, Medical and Health, and Chairperson of the State Mental Health Authority (SMHA). The meeting discussed important measures to further strengthen mental health services across the State, prevent suicides and improve the monitoring and registration system for mental health institutions.

Discussion was held on the training and orientation programmes for Raj-Mamta and Mental Wellbeing modules, with a State-level programme scheduled for September 9 and district-level programmes between September 10 and 20.

As in previous years, a special awareness campaign will be conducted from September 10 (World Suicide Prevention Day) to October 10 (World Mental Health Day). Activities will include rallies, workshops, quizzes, poster and essay competitions and social media campaigns.

The meeting discussed a proposal to establish District Mental Health Review Boards (DMHRBs) at the divisional level. A proposal to begin the process of registering de-addiction centres under the SMHA was considered.

Along with this, the process for renewal of provisional registration of mental health establishments and their permanent registration in accordance with prescribed standards will also be taken forward.

The Tele-MANAS helpline 14416 is making mental health assistance easily accessible to people. So far, 1,11,377 calls have been received of which, 95,305 calls were initiated by individuals themselves while 16,072 calls were initiated by Tele-MANAS.

Through the Raj-Mamta and Manodarpan programmes, efforts are being made to promote mental health, stress management and emotional resilience among children, adolescents and young people. There are plans to conduct counselling and awareness sessions related to mental health and stress at Senior Secondary schools at least once a month.
