Tens of demonstrators staged a protest outside the Collectorate on Monday and presented a memorandum to the administrative officer under the banner of “Janta Sena Rajasthan” in relation to their demand of getting freedom for extracting Bajri and mud from the rivers and other water bodies situated near Udaipur. The demonstrators also asked the government to make policy in this regard as soon as possible.

The State President of the association Dinesh Mali claimed that people associated with the extraction of Bajri and mud are under suicidal conditions as they are not able to make both ends meet since long time. Moreover the tractor or truck found by the Mining and Police department carrying Bajri or mud in them were either seized or penalized with a huge amount. In such conditions the earning of the  Bajri transporters, drivers are getting adversely effected.

Mali further added that the prevailing situation is not only affecting the people involved in Bajri extraction and its transportation but also affecting the pockets of those people who need Bajri or mud for the construction of their buildings, as they are made to purchase in higher prices from Bhilwara or Sirohi.

Male warned that if a policy is not formulated by the administration soon then it would affect the city’s law and order as the demonstrators will carry out a violent protest in the future.
