The ill fated conditions of few main streets of the city is not only adding muscle aches to the motorists but also spoiling image of Udaipur before tourists. The cracked state of roads are due to the poor and cheap quality of material used by some road contractors, allege members of Yuva Kranti group.
The group visited Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) and tried to put up their concern in Gandhigiri Style over the conditions of several roads in Udaipur. Akash Vagrecha, president of the group held meeting with UIT secretary and other senior officials and presented bouquet.
UIT agreeing with the problem, blamed it as state-wise problem due to the prolonged strike by contractors. Officials assured that after the strike is over, the road works will be commenced on larger scale.
UIT and Udaipur Municipal Council with PWD control road developments in the city. The areas are divided among them.
Satyanarayan Acharya, UMC commissioner told UT, “not every road of Udaipur comes under UMC, council takes care of only streets inside the city.”
When asked about the condition of road from Ice Factory-Kishanpol, commissioner assured to start the repairing in a day or two.
Rajni Dangi, chairperson of UMC said that a letter is sent to departments of UIT and PWD to conduct inspection of street’s condition and take necessary actions.
The condition of roads from Udiapol to Reti Stand and Kishanpol to Pala Ganesh is completely damaged.
Both UIT and UMC put charges on road contractors and expect the problem will be solved soon.
