Both Hindu and Muslim communities of Udaipur have expressed their respective concerns on the incident of Saturday, 13th April that resulted in communal clashes reported in the Mulla Talai area.
The tension broke out when an anti-religious comment posted on Facebook was ‘shared’ by a person from Udaipur. A group of people attacked a restaurant owner on the suspicion of his involvement on sharing the comment.
Today, nearly 13 different groups from the Hindu community presented a memorandum and protested outside the Collectorate.
Protestors claimed that there is a Facebook group which often posts anti-Hindu remarks on the site hurting their religious sentiments. A memorandum to the effect was also given to the District Administration a few days ago but no action was taken yet, complained the protestors.
Pointing towards the 13th April incident, the group demanded more police patrolling in the sensitive areas by establishing permanent Chowkis and installing CCTVs cameras.
On the other side, a press conference was organized by the Muslim Mahasabha, Rajasthan to put forward the issue and demanded strict action against the accused who had shared the malicious comment on his/her Facebook profile.
Younus Shiekh, promoter of Muslim Mahasabha told media personnel that they will protest by holding black color flag in the coming up congress rally.
