Out of several problems the city of lakes is witnessing or better say struggling to become a real smart city, one not-so-much noticed issue is empty plots turning into garbage dumping yards.

An incident came to light on Friday 20th Nov at 80 Feet Road area when an empty plot of 3000 sq.ft was engulfed in flames. The fire erupted in the garbage and turned into massive blaze alerting locals who themselves used to dump trash in the plot.

Before fire fighters reached the scene, the local residents themselves controlled the raising fire but also raised the issue, its causes and solutions.

According to a local resident Nikhat Pathan, people of the area dump trash on this empty and abandoned plot since long and used to light fire in short periods to terminate the garbage before it turned worse.

Not only residents should be blamed fully because according to their claim the UMC has never taken care of their several pleas in past, no dustbin was installed in the area yet and the local area corporator has not responded when the locals asked them to clean the plot.

UT reporter tried to contact the corporator Chandni Gaur but she was unreachable.

Administration has always emphasized in cleaning the outer city areas or places of tourist interest but many problems are lying unattended in several colonies like this. Not only local residents but the civic administration and public representatives should also get aware of such problems which are turning life threatening and hazardous every day.
