Hospital unable to quickly respond to 5-year-old girl Mauled by Dogs
After getting mauled by wild dogs, the critically injured 5-year-old girl faced another challenge – getting medicinal help in MB Hospital. Finally after running between Emergency and Pediatric Wards for more than an hour, the doctors took the child in their care.
After getting mauled by wild dogs, the critically injured 5-year-old girl faced another challenge – getting medicinal help in MB Hospital. Finally after running between Emergency and Pediatric Wards for more than an hour, the doctors took the child in their care.
The girl child is now said to be out of danger but her innocent eyes raises serious concern over condition of children who need assistance in such emergency situation.
Hemlata was attacked by dogs while she was going home from Aanganwadi. Her parents rushed her to local dispensary, Delwara; .From there she was referred to MB Hospital. But even after reaching hospital, no one responded to the girl child immediately till few home guards felt pity on the child and decided to help.
A patient, on condition of anonymity sad that there is a confusion created by hospital management, when someone rushed child to emergency ward. The ward officials ask them to go to the pediatric ward and from there the patient was again turned toward emergency.
Due to this uncertainty, Hemlata’s parents were running here and there for more than 1 hour but no doctor helped them. Lastly, few home guards noticed the serious condition of the girl and helped her.
However, Dr. D.P Singh, superintendent of hospital said that, “All doctors are directed to take emergency cases of children in emergency ward only as Pediatric Ward is not prepared to handle emergency cases.”
Hemlata was admitted in ICU and now shifted to the ward no.113 of Pediatric ward, her condition is stable.
