After seeing the deteriorating condition of various lakes around city, local activists of Udaipur have demanded to install CCTV cameras on ghats of different lakes, in order to save them from getting polluted.

The activists claim, “Our lakes which beautify the city have now become dumping grounds for hotels and residents of lake adjoining colonies.”

Social worker and activist, Haji Noor Mohammad further added, “Chunks of meat were found in FatahSagar and Pichola which is not only an ugly sight, but also is a hazard for people’s health.”

Another activist, Anil Mehta informed, “Sudden increase of tourists in the city during Diwali, has also doubled the waste disposal at various hotels of city, most of which are adjoining to the lakes.”

Activist Tej Shankar Paliwal of Chandpol Nagrik Samiti told UT, “During the lake cleaning drive we saw people polluting the lakes in their own ways. People were found washing clothes, washing vehicles etc.”

“After observing the usefulness of installing CCTVs on major City Circles, as concerned localites we want CCTV on lake sides to prevent them from getting polluted further,” as stated by Tej Shankar.
