Illicit betting activities in the city have suddenly risen with the start of IPL Cricket matches. Protesting against such activities, a group of activists from Youth Congress presented a memorandum to district collector Vikas Bhale and requested to take strict action against the people involved in conducting and participating in the betting.

In the memorandum, the Youth Congress mentioned the bad effect of betting on young generation who face heavy financial losses that eventually grip them in debts. They also stated the loopholes in the laws that encourage bookies to openly indulge in the business.

Members of Youth Congress asked collector to take action against the accused so that innocent people could be saved from the exploitation.
