Thousands of private schools all over the state remained closed today in protest against the proposal of the State Fee Regulatory Committee on limiting the fee structure.
Udaipur’s private school owners protested outside the collectorate and presented a memorandum to the Additional District Magistrate under the banner of The United Forum of CBSE Schools and Private Schools Association for RBSE. There are 208 private schools in Udaipur city and 700 schools in the district.
The movement was supported by 35564 schools recognized by CBSE or RBSE Boards. Most of the schools have officially declared the ‘holiday’ by sending circulars to the parents.
The school owners demanded the review of Fee Regulatory Act and Rules with participating of the private school management. They also demanded removal of Justice Shiv Kumar Sharma, retired High Court Judge who is appointed as Chairperson of the state fee regulatory committee.
School owners alleged Sharma’s decision of limiting fee is impractical and hasty. The former state government had passed a regulation ‘The Rajasthan State Private Schools Fee Regulatory Act 2013’ and the regulations were framed in Sept 2013.
School owners also said that it is impossible for them to run the school with decent facilities with limitation of fees.
