A 16-year-old girl took shelter at an NGO after leaving her house because of her mother’s alleged illicit relationship with a man who also physically abused her several times. The NGO has already sent a notice to the victim’s mother and sent the girl to a shelter house.
Shockingly, before approaching Aasra Vikas Seva Sansthan an NGO, victim went to her paternal grandparents’ house at Gogunda who refused to help the girl. From there, she came back to Udaipur and intended to board train to Kota at her maternal grandparents but before that, an unknown person told her about Aasra Vikas Seva Sansthan.
Student of 11th standard, Seema (name changed) narrated her story to Chandra Prabha Sharma of Seva Sansthan and requested her help.
According to Seema, she lost her father in 2001, a few years later, a man came in contact with her mother and both engaged in a relationship; the man is already married and is a father of two children. According to Seema, “He started coming to house everyday and also interfered in our family issues. He used to do immoral acts with me and even physically assault me if I tried to protest or retaliate”.
“My mother asked me to keep quiet and compromise with that man”, said Seema to the NGO.
On 13th December, Seema left her house after a heated argument with her mother. Now, she wants her safety and also agrees to go back home if her mother promises to break all kind of relationships with that man.
Seema used to live with her mother and younger brother along with a teenage cousin. She was studying at government school while her younger brother is going to a well known private school in the city.
The shocking case not only brings social misconduct but also sheds light on inequality, torture and harassment of a girl in her own house.
“We have shifted the girl to our shelter house and also sent a notice to her mother” said Chandra Prabha.
According to sources, victim’s mother has also lodged missing person complaint at Pratap Nagar Police station.
