Slum dwellers protest against forced evacuation, administration alleges encroachment
More than 50 women who were residing at Chitrakoot Nagar slum colony demanded resettlement as civic administration recently evacuated them on the charges of encroachment.
More than 50 women who were residing at Chitrakoot Nagar slum colony demanded resettlement as civic administration recently evacuated them on the charges of encroachment.
The women protested outside collectorate and demanded permanent solution for their accommodation. The protestors expressed their inability to afford purchasing or taking house on rent, hence asked administration for help.
Recently, UIT and UMC officials evacuated illegal houses made on government land at Chitrakoot Nagar. According to the protestors, there were around 300 families affected in the operation.
Protesting women also said that every time the government and the administration give them assurance for land and to construct their houses but still nothing has been done.
