A case of child marriage came to light today morning, when the Child and Women Development department got information of a Child marriage activity in the Gayriavas area. It was stopped by the officials of the department and an Affidavit was taken by the officials from the Family .

Kishan Lal Gayri resident of Gayriavas area and a salesman by profession had organized the marriage of his son as well as daughter near his house. The marriage of the his son Sunil Gayri, 21 was done two days back while the daughter was to be wedded today in a family from the Sundervas area.

The girl, however, was a minor and when the officials asked Kishan Lal about the age proof of the girl he confessed in front of them that it was a child marriage as his daughter is only 16 year old. “Kishan Lal was first advised to stop the marriage and later it was taken in writing from Kishan that he was committing a mistake by organizing the marriage of his minor daughter and will not repeat the mistake”, said Rajiv Singh, CDPO.

Along with Rajiv Singh, CDPO; Chandra Prabha, Councilor; Bhojraj Singh, represtative of Asra Vikas Sansthan and Bhagwan Das, ASI, P.S Hiran Magri were also present.

Shweta Fagaria, Deputy Director, Women and Child Development has ordered the local Anganvadi workers to keep an eye on the activities of the girl and her family and inform the Officials of the department from time to time.
