Woman with children sit on Hunger-Strike, demands her job back

A widow and mother of three children, was fired from her job as a gardener at Liberty Phosphate without giving any satisfactory reason. The woman Pushpa Devi Oar, the only bread earner of her family appealed to district administration and sat on hunger strike at Collectorate, demanding her job.

Contradicting the allegation, Shaukat Hussain, HR Manager of Liberty Phosphate clarified that Pushpa Devi was not their employee and was working under a labor contractor, whose contract is now over with the firm; hence laborers working under the contractor have to leave the job.

Absolutely shattered, Pushpa Devi has nowhere to go, her husband Shambhulal was working in the same company as a security guard and died, while on duty in a mishap a year ago. Tragedy continued to follow Pushpa Devi, when her brother passed away few months back in an accident.

While talking to media personnel, she said that, I was getting Rs. 5000 salary at Liberty Phosphate, now after being fired from job, how I will take care of my children.

Pushpa Devi met ADM City and requested to take any suitable action to get her job back. She further decided to sit on hunger-strike with her children till her demands are fulfilled.
