Crackdown on Pharmacies Withholding RGHS Medicines

Udaipur, August 27, 2026 - The Rajasthan government, under the direction of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar, is taking strict action to ensure that beneficiaries under the Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS) receive medicines on time. According to the Principal Secretary, Medical and Health, Gayatri Rathore, the authorities are continuously monitoring the RGHS medicine distribution system and have asked pharmacies that have not supplied medicines for a long period to submit an explanation.

The government has further temporarily suspended the Transaction Management System (TMS) of 215 private pharmacies in the State that failed to provide medicines to RGHS beneficiaries for nearly two months. Jaipur recorded the highest number of such actions, with TMS of 39 pharmacies being temporarily suspended.

As per details shared by Dr Nidhi Patel, Project Officer, RGHS, action was taken against 3 pharmacies each in Udaipur, Didwana-Kuchaman, and Nagaur apart from 20 pharmacies each in Alwar and Sikar; 10 each in Bharatpur, Churu and Dausa; 9 in Ajmer; 8 each in Jhunjhunu and Sri Ganganagar; 7 each in Jodhpur and Kota; 6 each in Hanumangarh and Pali; 5 each in Baran and Kotputli-Behror; 4 each in Deeg, Khairthal-Tijara and Tonk; 2 each in Beawar, Bhilwara, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Dholpur, Jaisalmer, Jalore and Karauli and one each in Balotra, Barmer, Bikaner, Jhalawar, Sawai Madhopur and Sirohi.

Dr Patel added that, after examining the explanations received from the concerned pharmacies and reviewing the available records, further action will be taken in accordance with the rules.
